Local tips

Wallinger Avenue, part of BC 95A and posted at 50 km/h, runs about 15 m from Western Financial Group at 511 Wallinger Ave., Kimberley's licensing agent. Map data also shows a bridge on Wallinger Avenue about 100 m away. The office is open Monday to Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with road tests by appointment. A roundabout about 420 m from the office is a good place to practice: yield to traffic already in it and signal your exit. The nearest of four traffic lights is about 230 m away. Schools about 490 m and 600 m away mean watching for students and school zones on weekdays; ICBC's examiners say speeding through school and playground zones is a common reason people fail. The Kimberley Highway, also BC 95A, is posted at 60 km/h about 395 m out. Our 8.9 km practice route leaves on Leadenhall Street, follows Wallinger Avenue and Warren Avenue, turns up Marsden Street and Knighton Road, then uses Ross Street and Gerry Sorensen Way. Practice keeping a steady speed and leaving extra space on the highway sections.

Common questions

Kimberley road test FAQ

What are the hours at Kimberley?

ICBC lists: Mon–Sat 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Road tests by appointment. Check icbc.com before you go, especially around holidays.

How do I book a road test?

Book online at icbc.com (Book a road test), or call 604-982-2250 in Metro Vancouver, 250-978-8300 in Victoria, or 1-800-950-1498 toll-free; in other areas you can also contact the nearest driver licensing office. You pay the road test fee when you arrive. Cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours ahead, or you'll be charged a $25 fee.

What do I need to bring?

Arrive 15 minutes early with the same ID you used for your learner's licence (one primary and one secondary piece), your learner's licence, payment for the road test fee, and a safe, reliable, insured vehicle with a Canadian licence plate and its registration papers. GPS and navigation must be off, and recording devices aren't allowed during the test.

When can I take the road test, and is there a second test?

New drivers take the Class 7 road test to move from the learner (L) licence to the novice (N) licence; the earliest date you can take it is printed on your licence. Since October 19, 2026, drivers with a novice licence and a clean record no longer take a second road test: a Driving Record Assessment replaces it.

Is a practice route available for Kimberley?
