Local tips

Creston Valley Insurance Services Ltd. acts as the licensing agent at 7 - 1000 Northwest Blvd. in Creston, open Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with road tests by appointment. The office sits about 15 m from Northwest Boulevard, part of Highway 3 and posted at 50 km/h, so take your time finding a safe gap when you pull out. Railway level crossings are about 255 m and 365 m away; slow down, look both ways and never stop on the tracks. Traffic lights are few, with the nearest about 845 m off, but map data shows 122 stop signs in the surrounding streets, so practice full stops with the wheels completely still before moving on. A school about 435 m away means watching for students and school zones on weekdays. Our 27.0 km practice route runs from Cavell Street onto Northwest Boulevard, out along Lakeview Arrow Creek Road with several right turns to stay on it, then back on Highway 3. Use the longer stretches to practice scanning well ahead and keeping a steady speed.

Common questions

Creston road test FAQ

What are the hours at Creston?

ICBC lists: Mon–Fri 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Road tests by appointment. Check icbc.com before you go, especially around holidays.

How do I book a road test?

Book online at icbc.com (Book a road test), or call 604-982-2250 in Metro Vancouver, 250-978-8300 in Victoria, or 1-800-950-1498 toll-free; in other areas you can also contact the nearest driver licensing office. You pay the road test fee when you arrive. Cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours ahead, or you'll be charged a $25 fee.

What do I need to bring?

Arrive 15 minutes early with the same ID you used for your learner's licence (one primary and one secondary piece), your learner's licence, payment for the road test fee, and a safe, reliable, insured vehicle with a Canadian licence plate and its registration papers. GPS and navigation must be off, and recording devices aren't allowed during the test.

When can I take the road test, and is there a second test?

New drivers take the Class 7 road test to move from the learner (L) licence to the novice (N) licence; the earliest date you can take it is printed on your licence. Since October 19, 2026, drivers with a novice licence and a clean record no longer take a second road test: a Driving Record Assessment replaces it.

Is a practice route available for Creston?
