The Cranbrook Service BC Centre is at #101 - 100 Cranbrook Street North, open Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with road tests by appointment. Before your test, get comfortable with railway level crossings: map data shows a group of them about 215 to 270 m from the office and another about 640 m away. Slow down, look both ways and never stop on the tracks, even if traffic ahead is backing up. Van Horne Street North (CN 3/BC 95), about 100 m away, is posted at 60 km/h, and there are 26 sets of traffic lights within a kilometre, the nearest about 150 m away. With 68 marked crosswalks nearby, scan for people on foot at every corner. Our 13.7 km practice route runs from Cranbrook Street North to 2nd Street North, Kootenay Street North, 30th Avenue North and Kokanee Drive North, later picking up Industrial Road 2, Van Horne Street North and Victoria Avenue South. Practice steady lane positioning on the 60 km/h stretches and full stops on the numbered side streets.
Common questions
Cranbrook road test FAQ
What are the hours at Cranbrook?
ICBC lists: Mon–Fri 9:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Road tests by appointment. Check icbc.com before you go, especially around holidays.
How do I book a road test?
Book online at icbc.com (Book a road test), or call 604-982-2250 in Metro Vancouver, 250-978-8300 in Victoria, or 1-800-950-1498 toll-free; in other areas you can also contact the nearest driver licensing office. You pay the road test fee when you arrive. Cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours ahead, or you'll be charged a $25 fee.
What do I need to bring?
Arrive 15 minutes early with the same ID you used for your learner's licence (one primary and one secondary piece), your learner's licence, payment for the road test fee, and a safe, reliable, insured vehicle with a Canadian licence plate and its registration papers. GPS and navigation must be off, and recording devices aren't allowed during the test.
When can I take the road test, and is there a second test?
New drivers take the Class 7 road test to move from the learner (L) licence to the novice (N) licence; the earliest date you can take it is printed on your licence. Since October 19, 2026, drivers with a novice licence and a clean record no longer take a second road test: a Driving Record Assessment replaces it.
