Local tips

Kamloops Driver Licensing is at 937 Concordia Way. It is open Monday to Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except Wednesdays, when it opens at 9:00 a.m., and road tests are by appointment. Map data lists no major roads close to the office, but there are roundabouts about 670 m and 770 m away. Yield to traffic already in the roundabout, and signal right before your exit. Thompson Rivers University is about 745 m from the office, and the map data shows 37 marked crosswalks nearby, so watch for pedestrians, especially near campus. The nearest of six traffic lights is about 765 m away. Our 16.7 km practice route uses Concordia Way, McGill Road, Hillside Drive and Hillside Way, then takes the ramp toward Salmon Arm and leaves at exit 369 for Columbia Street, before returning by 3rd Avenue, Lansdowne Street and Summit Drive. On the ramp, get up to the speed of traffic, check your mirror and blind spot, and signal well before the exit.

Common questions

Kamloops road test FAQ

What are the hours at Kamloops?

ICBC lists: Mon–Tue 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; Wed 9:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; Thu–Sat 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Road tests by appointment. Check icbc.com before you go, especially around holidays.

How do I book a road test?

Book online at icbc.com (Book a road test), or call 604-982-2250 in Metro Vancouver, 250-978-8300 in Victoria, or 1-800-950-1498 toll-free; in other areas you can also contact the nearest driver licensing office. You pay the road test fee when you arrive. Cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours ahead, or you'll be charged a $25 fee.

What do I need to bring?

Arrive 15 minutes early with the same ID you used for your learner's licence (one primary and one secondary piece), your learner's licence, payment for the road test fee, and a safe, reliable, insured vehicle with a Canadian licence plate and its registration papers. GPS and navigation must be off, and recording devices aren't allowed during the test.

When can I take the road test, and is there a second test?

New drivers take the Class 7 road test to move from the learner (L) licence to the novice (N) licence; the earliest date you can take it is printed on your licence. Since October 19, 2026, drivers with a novice licence and a clean record no longer take a second road test: a Driving Record Assessment replaces it.
