Local tips

Railway tracks are the first thing to plan for at Falher Registries, which sits at 2 Main St & Railway Ave. Map data shows level crossings about 215 m, 580 m and 1.1 km from the registry. Slow down as you approach, look both ways and never stop on the tracks. Two schools are close by, École Routhier School about 210 m away and École Héritage about 425 m away, so watch for students crossing on weekdays. No traffic lights appear within a kilometre in the map data, which means you'll be judging right-of-way yourself at intersections. Road tests are by appointment, and hours vary, so call Falher Registries at 780-837-8880 to confirm. Our 59.9 km practice route runs south on Main Street North-East to Spirit River Highway (Highway 49), then onto Highway 2, the Northern Woods & Water Route, before looping along Township Road 784 and Range Road 205 and returning through town via South Railway Avenue. On the highway stretches, practice holding a steady speed and leaving a long following distance, then recheck your speed as you come back into town.

Common questions

Falher Registries road test FAQ

What are the hours at Falher Registries?

Alberta doesn't publish hours for each registry, and they vary. Call Falher Registries at 780-837-8880 to confirm before you go. Road tests are by appointment.

How do I book a road test?

Book online through Falher Registries's road test booking page (the "Official booking" button on this page, also listed on alberta.ca), or in person at the registry. You'll need your 9-digit MVID number, printed near the barcode on your licence, and any outstanding Government of Alberta fines must be paid first. Registry agents set their own road test fees, up to the maximum in the province's Registry Agent Product Catalogue, so confirm the fee when you book.

What do I need for the road test?

A vehicle that meets all legal and safety requirements, plus the documents listed on the registry's road test information sheet and in your confirmation letter. The information sheet also covers eligibility, fees, and the registry's cancellation and no-show policies.

How long do I need my learner's licence first, and how is the test marked?

You must have held a Class 7 learner's licence for at least one year and be at least 16 (with a parent's or guardian's written consent if you're under 18). You fail the Class 5 road test with more than 75 points, or automatically if you endanger someone, drive unsafely or break traffic laws. After you pass the road test and a vision test, you get a probationary Class 5-GDL licence, which you hold for at least two years.

Is a practice route available for Falher Registries?

Yes. This page has a 59.9 km Class 5 practice test route that starts and ends at the centre, with a map and turn-by-turn directions.
