Local tips

Watrous's driver exams are held at the Court House, 403 Main Street. SGI says hours vary and an appointment is required for every service. Two schools are close to the court house, about 270 and 370 metres away, so school-zone speeds and children crossing are likely on weekdays. Main Street is the town's main road, and the railway crosses about 1.1 km away. There are no traffic lights in Watrous. Our 10.2 km practice route uses 5th Avenue West and Main Street, heads out to 13th Avenue East and Highway 365, then comes back through 1st Avenue East, which carries Highway 2, and the residential grid of numbered streets and avenues. Practice accelerating to highway speed and slowing smoothly when you return to town, and make full stops at every residential intersection.

Common questions

Watrous road test FAQ

What are the hours at Watrous?

SGI lists: Office hours vary. Appointment required for all services. Check sgi.sk.ca/examoffice before you go.

How do I book a road test?

Book a Class 5 road test online with MySGI, through a motor licence issuer, or by calling 1-844-TLK-2SGI (1-844-855-2744). If you give your cellphone number, SGI texts you reminders 24 hours and one hour before, and you can check in by text when you arrive.

What do I need for the Class 5 road test?

You must have held your Class 7 learner's licence for at least nine months, bring photo ID, and supply a vehicle in good working order (the examiner inspects it first). Bring your Driver Education Certificate if your training isn't on your SGI file. Your supervising driver waits in the waiting room during the test.

What if I fail?

SGI says you must wait two weeks before taking another Class 5 road test, and you pay the test fee again. If you miss an appointment without cancelling, you pay for the rescheduled one.
