Local tips
Esterhazy's driver exams are held at the Town Office, 600 Sumner Street. SGI says office hours vary, not all exams may be available, and every service requires an appointment. Sumner Street is also Highway 637, so expect through traffic right outside the office, and a school is about 450 metres away. Map data doesn't show any traffic lights in Esterhazy, which means you'll be handling every intersection with stop signs or uncontrolled right-of-way. Our 11.3 km practice route heads along Sumner Street and Park Avenue, which is Highway 22, then loops through residential areas on Kennedy Drive, Kaposvar Drive, Gonczy Avenue and Maple Drive. Practice shoulder checks before pulling away from the curb, consistent signalling, and scanning carefully at intersections where you can't rely on lights.
Common questions
Esterhazy road test FAQ
What are the hours at Esterhazy?
SGI lists: Office hours vary. Appointment required for all services. Check sgi.sk.ca/examoffice before you go.
How do I book a road test?
Book a Class 5 road test online with MySGI, through a motor licence issuer, or by calling 1-844-TLK-2SGI (1-844-855-2744). If you give your cellphone number, SGI texts you reminders 24 hours and one hour before, and you can check in by text when you arrive.
What do I need for the Class 5 road test?
You must have held your Class 7 learner's licence for at least nine months, bring photo ID, and supply a vehicle in good working order (the examiner inspects it first). Bring your Driver Education Certificate if your training isn't on your SGI file. Your supervising driver waits in the waiting room during the test.
What if I fail?
SGI says you must wait two weeks before taking another Class 5 road test, and you pay the test fee again. If you miss an appointment without cancelling, you pay for the rescheduled one.
