Local tips
The Richibucto driver examination office is in Suite 5 at 10 Rue Commerciale, open weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with road tests by appointment. Route 134, which runs through town as Rue Acadie and Rue Main at 50 km/h, is about 520 to 560 metres away, and Route 11 runs about 670 metres away at 100 km/h. There are no traffic lights nearby, so most of the decisions are at stop signs and uncontrolled junctions. Our 55.6 km practice route takes Cartier Boulevard and Main Street to Bonar Law Avenue (Route 116), then follows Route 116 into the countryside. It loops back on Saint-Charles Station Road, Chemin Saint-Charles and Route 134 through Acadie Street and Main Street, then repeats part of the Route 116 loop before finishing on Acadie Street and Rue Commerciale. It's a long, mostly rural route, so practice steady highway speeds, slowing early for curves and town speed zones, and passing cyclists safely.
Common questions
Richibucto road test FAQ
What are the hours at Richibucto?
Service New Brunswick lists: Mon–Fri 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Road tests by appointment. Offices close on statutory holidays, so check snb.ca before you go.
How do I book a road test?
Book online through Service New Brunswick's Driver Examination Online Booking Service (linked from gnb.ca's Driver licence testing page), or call TeleServices at 1-888-762-8600 (Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.). The road test fee is $25 plus HST for each attempt, and you can take the test in English or French.
What do I need to bring?
A licensed driver with at least three years of experience and a valid Class 5 (or equivalent) licence to come with you, your valid learner's permit, a signed and valid vehicle registration, proof of valid insurance for the vehicle, your driving school certificate if you have one, and proof of payment for the test. Bring paper copies; only the proof of insurance can be digital. If anything is missing, you'll be turned away.
How long do I need my learner's licence first, and what if I fail?
New drivers take this road test to move from Class 7 Level 1 (learner) to Level 2. You must have held Level 1 for at least one year, or eight months if you completed a recognized driver education course (green certificate required). The wait is waived if you've been fully licensed before. If you don't pass, you book and pay for another attempt.
