Ucluelet's road tests are booked through Westland Insurance at 8-1920 Lyche Road. It's open Monday to Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and closed Fridays and weekends, so plan around that; road tests are by appointment. Peninsula Road, about 85 m away, is the only major road the map data lists near the office and is posted at 50 km/h, so check both ways carefully and wait for a safe gap before you turn onto it. Ucluelet Secondary School is about 890 m away and Ucluelet Elementary School about 1.1 km away. On weekdays, watch for students and school zones; ICBC's examiners say speeding through school and playground zones is a common reason people fail. The Ucluelet Fire Brigade is about 790 m away, so be ready to pull to the right for sirens. How do I book a road test?
Book online at icbc.com (Book a road test), or call 604-982-2250 in Metro Vancouver, 250-978-8300 in Victoria, or 1-800-950-1498 toll-free; in other areas you can also contact the nearest driver licensing office. You pay the road test fee when you arrive. Cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours ahead, or you'll be charged a $25 fee.
What do I need to bring?
Arrive 15 minutes early with the same ID you used for your learner's licence (one primary and one secondary piece), your learner's licence, payment for the road test fee, and a safe, reliable, insured vehicle with a Canadian licence plate and its registration papers. GPS and navigation must be off, and recording devices aren't allowed during the test.
When can I take the road test, and is there a second test?
New drivers take the Class 7 road test to move from the learner (L) licence to the novice (N) licence; the earliest date you can take it is printed on your licence. Since October 19, 2026, drivers with a novice licence and a clean record no longer take a second road test: a Driving Record Assessment replaces it.
