Local tips
Guildford Boardwalk Road Test Centre, in Unit C1A at 15285 - 101st Ave. in Surrey, has a child-care centre (CEFA early learning) only about 140 m away and Johnston Heights Secondary about 500 m away. On weekdays, watch for children and school zones; ICBC's examiners say speeding through school and playground zones is a common reason people fail. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., opening at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesdays, and road tests are by appointment. Map data counts 62 sets of traffic lights within a kilometre and 279 stop signs in the surrounding streets, and 152 Street, about 160 m away, is posted at 60 km/h. Roundabouts sit about 625 m and 985 m away; yield to traffic already in them and signal your exit. Our 29.9 km practice route is a long one: 152A Street, 104 Avenue and 156 Street lead to two roundabouts on 108 Avenue, then 160 Street and a Hwy 1 East ramp, 200 Street, Fraser Highway and 176 Street. On the ramps, match the traffic speed, signal and shoulder check before you merge.
Common questions
Boardwalk Mall road test FAQ
What are the hours at Boardwalk Mall?
ICBC lists: Mon–Tue 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; Wed 9:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; Thu–Fri 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Road tests by appointment. Check icbc.com before you go, especially around holidays.
How do I book a road test?
Book online at icbc.com (Book a road test), or call 604-982-2250 in Metro Vancouver, 250-978-8300 in Victoria, or 1-800-950-1498 toll-free; in other areas you can also contact the nearest driver licensing office. You pay the road test fee when you arrive. Cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours ahead, or you'll be charged a $25 fee.
What do I need to bring?
Arrive 15 minutes early with the same ID you used for your learner's licence (one primary and one secondary piece), your learner's licence, payment for the road test fee, and a safe, reliable, insured vehicle with a Canadian licence plate and its registration papers. GPS and navigation must be off, and recording devices aren't allowed during the test.
When can I take the road test, and is there a second test?
New drivers take the Class 7 road test to move from the learner (L) licence to the novice (N) licence; the earliest date you can take it is printed on your licence. Since October 19, 2026, drivers with a novice licence and a clean record no longer take a second road test: a Driving Record Assessment replaces it.
