Local tips
You'll find Entwistle Registries at 5002 50 Ave, close to 50 Street and 49 Street, both part of Highway 16A and posted at 50 km/h. Hours vary from registry to registry, so phone 780-727-4089 to check before you set out; road tests are booked by appointment. There are no traffic lights in the map data, but four stop signs sit close by, so come to a full stop every time. The Yellowhead Highway, about 430 m away, is posted at 100 km/h. Map data also shows a bridge on 49 Street about 375 m away and another on Highway 22 about 545 m away; keep to your lane and avoid changing lanes on them. Entwistle School is about 520 m away, so watch for students on weekdays, and a railway level crossing about 1 km away means slowing down, looking both ways and never stopping on the tracks. Our 66.7 km practice route heads out on 49 Street to Township Road 524 and Range Road 71, joins the Yellowhead Highway, uses Highway 22, and comes back by exit 289 onto 16A West. Signal well before that exit.
Common questions
Entwistle Registries road test FAQ
What are the hours at Entwistle Registries?
Alberta doesn't publish hours for each registry, and they vary. Call Entwistle Registries at 780-727-4089 to confirm before you go. Road tests are by appointment.
How do I book a road test?
Book online through Entwistle Registries's road test booking page (the "Official booking" button on this page, also listed on alberta.ca), or in person at the registry. You'll need your 9-digit MVID number, printed near the barcode on your licence, and any outstanding Government of Alberta fines must be paid first. Registry agents set their own road test fees, up to the maximum in the province's Registry Agent Product Catalogue, so confirm the fee when you book.
What do I need for the road test?
A vehicle that meets all legal and safety requirements, plus the documents listed on the registry's road test information sheet and in your confirmation letter. The information sheet also covers eligibility, fees, and the registry's cancellation and no-show policies.
How long do I need my learner's licence first, and how is the test marked?
You must have held a Class 7 learner's licence for at least one year and be at least 16 (with a parent's or guardian's written consent if you're under 18). You fail the Class 5 road test with more than 75 points, or automatically if you endanger someone, drive unsafely or break traffic laws. After you pass the road test and a vision test, you get a probationary Class 5-GDL licence, which you hold for at least two years.
Is a practice route available for Entwistle Registries?
Yes. This page has a 66.7 km Class 5 practice test route that starts and ends at the centre, with a map and turn-by-turn directions.
